Safe Driving on Highway -VRP Driving School

Safe Driving on Highway -VRP Driving School post thumbnail image

Highways are the most efficient mode of transportation. They are a multi-lane highway with ramps as entrances and exits. Driving becomes more stressful and difficult as the speed increases. Highway accidents are often more serious because of the speed at which they occur, so drivers must abide by the rules of the road to reduce the risk of crashing.

Manage Driving Space

A good driver must be able to judge a safe separation distance at all times, in all types of traffic, in all weather situations, and on all roads. It is far safer for you, the persons in front of you, and your passengers. Furthermore, if you collide with the car in front of you, you are held responsible. You have no control over the space left behind you, but you do have power over the space in front of you.

Observe the Weather

Extreme weather conditions can affect your routine driving. This mostly impacts your ability to see, which is severely impaired in unfavorable weather conditions such as rain, fog, ice, snow, and dust.

Fog is perhaps the most dangerous weather condition of all, so slow down and turn on your low-beam headlights if you’re driving in it. If the fog grows so dense that you can’t see anything, turn off the road safely and completely.

You should also slow down if you see rain, drizzle, or snow on the road. Many road surfaces are especially slippery at this time of year because rain combines with oil and grime that hasn’t been wiped away. Slippery roads can impair traction, putting you in danger of losing control of your vehicle.

Use Signals

It is critical to signal your intentions so that other vehicles can react appropriately. Even if there is no one around, signal exiting, merging, and lane changes.
